An excellent opportunity for a qualified veterinary nurse with an interest in transfusion medicine to work for the pioneering Pet Blood Bank UK, a charity supported by Vets Now Ltd.
An interesting and varied role, primarily based in Loughborough, though travel and education is a key part of this role.
Role Summary
This full time position is a key role within the PBBuk team. As a registered veterinary nurse you will be performing blood collections from our canine donors following the correct procedures as laid down in the PBBuk Standard Operating Procedures.
Working alongside the supervising veterinary surgeon and animal care assistants you will be responsible for liaising with all members of the team ensuring pre, during and post donation procedures are followed.
You will also be responsible for follow up communication on donor wellbeing, screening results to owners and their vet practices under the guidance of the PBBuk veterinary supervisor, as well as being involved in the development of the charity as it extends its services.
This exciting and rewarding role is a combination of collection sessions, practice visits and office duties and would be the perfect position for a qualified veterinary nurse with enthusiasm and flexibility and a desire to develop their skills.
Working Pattern
You will be contracted to work 37.5 hours per week, though must be flexible to accomodate the differing timings of donor sessions and practice visits.

The charity Pet Blood Bank UK (PBBuk) was set up by Vets Now in March 2007. The team at the charity is based in Loughborough, Leicestershire where they have a state of the art processing & storage facility, this is also the administrative hub of the blood bank.

Who we're looking for
Although tailored PBBuk nursing training will be provided, this role requires a qualified and registered veterinary nurse with excellent communication skills and solid small animal nursing experience (a minimum of 6 months). An interest in transfusion medicine or an animal behaviour or welfare qualification would be desireable.
