About Vets Now Hospitals
As part of our commitment to continuing to develop and improve the service we provide Member Practices, we are opening our second 24 hour veterinary hospital in Gateshead, which will not only provide Emergency and Critical Care but also additional specialist referral services.

Your Role & Responsibilities
As a Senior Specialist Veterinary Nurse you will be an instrumental member of the hospital team; coordinating the specialist nursing and ACA teams and ensuring our weekday referral service complements our existing Emergency and Critical Care service by encouraging the highest standards of client care and excellent communication across the hospital.

You’ll oversee follow up treatment plans, equipment and drug ordering related to specialist cases and will manage the rotas for the specialist nursing and ACA teams. You’ll also maintain a hands-on role, providing specialist nursing care for hospitalised patients including clinical monitoring, drug administration, routine nursing management etc. You may also assist the Veterinary Surgeon (predominantly specialist) on duty with clinical procedures, anaesthesia and surgery.

Working in a custom designed open-plan hospital environment alongside Veterinary Surgeons who are specialists in their chosen field, you’ll enjoy an exceptional working environment. You will work closely with our Hospital Manager and emergency teams to ensure the overall smooth running of the hospital.

Client care will be a large part of this role, keeping up excellent communications with clients and where appropriate liaising with them to arrange optimum post-operative care. This will be a very varied role with the opportunity and encouragement to develop your management skills, as well as ample opportunity to grow your clinical knowledge.

Who we’re looking for
Senior Specialist Veterinary Nurses within our hospital team must hold an Advanced Diploma in nursing and have considerable experience of working in a referral practice. In addition to your professional clinical skills, you must have a genuine passion for work, possess excellent standards of client care and very strong communication skills.
