Role Summary
As part of a small clinic team (working as a sole charge vet, alongside a receptionist and a qualified Veterinary Nurse), this rewarding hands-on role includes anaesthesia, surgery and clinical procedures seeing you make a real difference in critical cases. Due to the nature of ECC medicine, you won't know what to expect on each shift, but will be equipped with the facilities, training and support network to handle any case with the highest standards of clinical and client care.

Working Pattern
We currently have both full and part time opportunities in Preston. As a rough guide, full time at Vets Now typically means an average of just 3 night shifts per week with a share of weekend days & public holiday days.

Shift times are a share of: Nights from (7.00pm to 8.30am) and weekend days (a Saturday day shift is from 12.00 noon to 6.00pm, and a Sunday day shift is from 9.00am to 6.00pm).

Clinic Description
Opening 25th Jan 2010, Vets Now Preston will be based within a spacious private practice, part of the Vets 4 Pets Group at Preston. The practice is modern, and well equipped with an up to date ECC equipment suite and brand new isolation area for your use, plus an extensive rest and relaxation space for your use when off duty. Located near the city centre, the clinic is well situated for locals and commuters from the surrounding area, as well as from the nearby centres of Liverpool and Manchester, providing access to major railway links, airlinks and a short ferry ride from Ireland and beyond!

Who we’re looking for
You don’t necessarily need to have lots of experience of Emergency and Critical Care. In our opinion, ECC is really about doing good quality medicine well, and of course developing your ECC skills through ongoing training. So all we ask is that you are fully qualified, RCVS registered and have a minimum of 6 months experience working within an English speaking small animal practice. You should also be comfortable working sole charge, confident in your clinical ability and of course legally eligible to work in the UK.

Your CPD
We’re passionate about developing our people and their skills. You’ll receive clinical skills development and paid veterinary CPD through our tailored On-Site Training Programme, a thorough full induction, as well as a very generous CPD allowance to develop your own particular ECC areas of interest. So whether you’re from an ECC background or not, our induction and ongoing CPD will provide the foundation for a great career with us.

You’ll also be eligible for our Clinic Bonus Scheme, which for an on target performance can add at least 2.5% of your salary. In addition, we provide a regional allowance in selected locations.
