Job description - Locum Veterinary Surgeon, Contract or Locum in Ipswich, South East England

Locum Veterinary Surgeon

Ipswich, South East England

Looking to supplement your income or refresh your skills? Confident small animal Veterinary Surgeons always needed to join the Vets Now locum bank. Occasional or regular Out Of Hours locum shifts (very flexible – no minimum number of shifts). Free access to our excellent On-Site Training Programme.

Role Summary
Working as a Locum Veterinary Surgeon with Vets Now is a real opportunity to refresh and develop your hands-on clinical skills, whilst enjoying the great flexibility and attractive rates of locum work. We are always looking for Veterinary Surgeons to join our locum bank for occasional shifts, but can also offer flexible Fixed Term Contract or Roving positions in some locations, guaranteeing you a set number of shifts per month.

As an emergency clinician in our Out Of Hours clinics you’ll utilise a very broad range of surgical and medical skills. As part of a small clinic team (working as a sole charge vet, alongside a receptionist and a qualified veterinary nurse), this rewarding hands-on role includes anaesthesia, surgery and clinical procedures seeing you make a real difference in critical cases.

We offer our Locums and Fixed Term Contractors Free of Charge access to our excellent On-Site Training Programme which provides training on core emergency clinical skills, plus you’ll benefit from the support network and equipment you require to deliver the highest standards of clinical and client care.

Clinic Description
Vets Now Ipswich is due to open summer 2010 to provide an Out Of Hours emergency service on behalf of Member Practices across the region. Based in a modern and friendly private practice, with excellent facilities, the clinic will provide a lovely working environment. You’ll have access to the latest equipment, including a digital x-ray, ECG, I stats, IDEXX machine, Multi parameter monitor and flexible and rigid endoscope.

Who we’re looking for
You don’t necessarily need dedicated Emergency and Critical Care (ECC) experience. In our opinion, ECC is really about doing good quality medicine well. So we ask that you are fully qualified, RCVS registered and have a minimum of 6 months experience working within an English speaking small animal practice. You should also be comfortable working sole charge, confident in your clinical ability and of course legally eligible to work in the UK.

Your CPD
Learning has always been central to the Vets Now ethos, so as a regular Locum Veterinary Surgeon with us, you could benefit from free of charge access to our excellent On-Site Training Programme to refresh and develop your ECC clinical skills - by arrangement with your local Senior Veterinary Surgeon.
