Job description - Locum Veterinary Nurse, Contract or Locum in Ipswich, South East England

Locum Veterinary Nurse

Ipswich, South East England

Vets Now are always looking for qualified small animal Veterinary Nurses to join our locum bank. Out Of Hours locum work with us is very flexible (with shifts in locations to suit you and no minimum number of shifts). Occasional or regular locum shifts can be accommodated and our regular locums often benefit from complimentary access to our excellent On-Site Training Programme.

Role Summary
Working as a Locum Veterinary Nurse with Vets Now is an excellent opportunity to refresh and develop your hands-on clinical skills, whilst enjoying the great flexibility and attractive rates of locum work. We are always looking for Veterinary Nurses to join our locum bank for occasional shifts, but can also offer flexible Fixed Term Contract positions in some locations, guaranteeing you a set number of shifts per month.

As part of a small team (working alongside a sole charge vet and a receptionist) you’ll provide nursing care for small animal emergency patients including clinical monitoring, drug administration, and hospitalised cases. You’ll also assist the Veterinary Surgeon with anaesthesia, surgery and clinical procedures. Our Veterinary Nurses are encouraged to exercise their skills and training by taking on schedule 3 procedures, plus you’ll benefit from the support network and equipment you require to deliver the highest standards of clinical and client care.

Clinic Description

Vets Now Ipswich is due to open summer 2010 to provide an Out Of Hours emergency service on behalf of Member Practices across the region. Based in a modern and friendly private practice, with excellent facilities, the clinic will provide a lovely working environment. You’ll have access to the latest equipment, including a digital x-ray, ECG, I stats, IDEXX machine, Multi parameter monitor and flexible and rigid endoscope.

Who we’re looking for
You don’t necessarily need dedicated Emergency and Critical Care (ECC) experience. In our opinion, ECC is really about doing good quality medicine well. So we ask that you are fully qualified, RCVS registered and have a minimum of 6 months experience working within an English speaking small animal practice. You should also be comfortable working sole charge, confident in your clinical ability and of course legally eligible to work in the UK.

Your CPD
Learning has always been central to the Vets Now ethos, so as a regular Locum Veterinary Nurse with us, you could benefit from free of charge access to our excellent On-Site Training Programme to refresh and develop your ECC clinical skills - by arrangement with your local Senior Veterinary Surgeon.
