As part of our commitment to continuing to develop and improve the service we provide Member Practices, we are opening our second 24 hour veterinary hospital in Gateshead, which will not only provide Emergency and Critical Care but also additional specialist referral services.

Your Role & Responsibilities
Our Specialist Veterinary Nurses are an integral part of the hospital team; ensuring our weekday referral service complements our existing Emergency and Critical Care service and continues to develop the standards of client and clinical care that Vets Now are known for. A very important element of your role will be building relationships with clients and veterinary practices alike, so you should be a confident communicator with a passion for exceptional client care.
As part of your clinical role, you’ll provide specialist nursing care for hospitalised patients including clinical monitoring, drug administration, routine nursing management etc. Dealing with clients and patients, you will also assist the Veterinary Surgeon (predominantly specialist) on duty with clinical procedures, post-operative care and treatment planning, anaesthesia and surgery.
This is an exceptional opportunity to develop your skills and your career, working in a custom designed open-plan hospital environment alongside Veterinary Surgeons who are Specialists in their chosen field. As a Specialist Nurse with Vets Now you may be allocated to different specialists depending on needs and skill set, and will also learn by working alongside our emergency care teams. This will be a varied, hands-on role, which will give you ample opportunity to grow your clinical skills and knowledge.
Who we’re looking for
Specialist Veterinary Nurses within our hospital team must either hold an Advanced Diploma in nursing or have at least 6 months experience of working in a referral practice. In addition to your professional clinical skills our nurses must have a genuine passion for work, possess excellent standards of client care and very strong communication skills.

You’ll receive relevant clinical skills development through on-site training, a thorough induction, as well as a generous CPD allowance to develop your own particular specialist areas of interest. If you have not already undertaken your Advanced Diploma, Vets Now would be delighted to encourage and fund you through this.
