Role Summary
Working in emergency and critical care (ECC) with Vets Now is an interesting, varied and highly rewarding environment, giving you a unique chance to utilise and develop a very broad range of surgical and medical skills.

As part of a small clinic team (working as a sole charge vet, alongside a receptionist and a qualified veterinary nurse), this rewarding hands-on role includes anaesthesia, surgery and clinical procedures seeing you make a real difference in critical cases. Due to the nature of ECC medicine, you won't know what to expect on each shift, but will be equipped with the facilities, training and support network to handle any case with the highest standards of clinical and client care.

This role is an excellent platform for developing your career. You’ll benefit from ongoing training and investment in your clinical skills and CPD, including access to our regular on-site training programme. Many of our people move up to a senior role within their clinic or take advantage of the training and the growth in our company to relocate and progress.

Working Pattern
As a rough guide, full time at Vets Now typically means an average of just 3 night shifts per week with a share of weekend days & public holiday days.

Shift times are a share of: Monday to Friday nights from 6.30pm to 8.30am, Saturday night 6pm-9am and Sunday night 6pm to 8.30am), plus a share of weekend day shifts (Saturdays 12noon-6pm, Sundays 9am-6pm) and your share of bank holidays.

Clinic Description
Since opening in April 2009 Vets Now Guildford has proved extremely successful, providing excellent emergency and critical care Out Of Hours for pets in the local area. The clinic experiences an interesting and varied caseload, meaning that you can depend on no shift ever being quite the same! You will soon become an important part of the friendly and supportive team here. You’ll also enjoy a great working environment with high standards of equipment and excellent facilities.

Who we’re looking for
You don’t necessarily need to have lots of experience of Emergency and Critical Care. In our opinion, ECC is really about doing good quality medicine well, and of course developing your ECC skills through ongoing training. So all we ask is that you are fully qualified, RCVS registered and have a minimum of 6 months experience working within an English speaking small animal practice. You should also be comfortable working sole charge, confident in your clinical ability and of course legally eligible to work in the UK.

Your CPD
We’re passionate about developing our people and their skills. You’ll receive clinical skills development and paid veterinary CPD through our tailored On-Site Training Programme, a thorough full induction, as well as a very generous CPD allowance to develop your own particular ECC areas of interest. So whether you’re from an ECC background or not, our induction and ongoing CPD will provide the foundation for a great career with us.

You will be well rewarded as we offer a competitive salary, and access to our excellent flexible benefits package, which can be tailored to meet your individual needs and lifestyle. You’ll also be eligible for our Clinic Bonus Scheme, which for an on target performance can add at least 2.5% of your salary. In addition, we provide a regional allowance in selected locations.
