Job description - Veterinary Nurse (Flexible, Maternity Cover), Permanent in Bradford, Yorkshire & Humberside

Veterinary Nurse (Flexible, Maternity Cover)

Bradford, Yorkshire & Humberside

This Maternity Cover contract is flexible enough to work around your existing commitments, with contract duration and number of shifts per month open to negotiation. You will be well rewarded and will enjoy a varied caseload and working as part of a supportive and friendly team.

Role Summary
Working on a Fixed Term Contract basis with Vets Now is a great opportunity to refresh and develop your hands-on clinical skills – you’ll enjoy treating a varied caseload, where no two shifts are quite the same! As part of a small team (working alongside a sole charge vet and a receptionist) you’ll provide nursing care for small animal emergency patients including clinical monitoring, drug administration, and hospitalised cases. You’ll also assist the veterinary surgeon with anaesthesia, surgery and clinical procedures.

Our nurses are supported and encouraged to exercise and develop their skills by taking on schedule 3 procedures, plus you’ll benefit from the support network and equipment you require to deliver the highest standards of clinical and client care.

Working Pattern
This Maternity Cover contract is flexible enough to accommodate Full Time or Part Time hours. As a rough guide, a full time temporary contract at Vets Now typically means an average of between 12-15 shifts per month (usually a mixture of nights, weekend days & a share of public holiday days).

Contract Type
This is a flexible fixed term contract, to cover variable lengths. Whilst we are looking for an immediate start we can also consider candidates on notice.

Clinic Description

Located in the clinic where staff won the Vets Now "Team of Stars" award during our 2008 staff awards you can expect to work in a friendly, professional and supportive team environment. With Senior Staff also receiving nominations and awards for their team spirit this is an excellent opportunity for you to build your skills in an Emergency and Critical Care clinic.

Hosted within the PDSA clinic in Bradford this modern hospital provides access to a well equipped, multi-functional practice with a challenging case load with a healthy balance between critical care and emergency patients.

Who we're looking for
You don’t necessarily need to have lots of experience of Emergency and Critical Care. In our opinion, ECC is really about doing good quality medicine well, and of course developing your ECC skills through ongoing training. So all we ask is that you are fully qualified, RCVS registered and have a minimum of 6 months experience working within an English speaking small animal practice. You should also be comfortable working sole charge, confident in your clinical ability and of course legally eligible to work in the UK.

Rates
We are offering competitive shift rates for this contract position (and attractive hourly rates for weekend days shifts).

CPD
Learning has always been central to the Vets Now ethos, so as a Fixed Term Contractor with us you will also have free access to our excellent On-Site Training Programme to refresh and develop your ECC clinical skills.

Next Steps
If the flexibility, competetive rates, plus the rewarding nature of emergency work and the training are appealing then please get in touch!
