World-class ECC and specialist care for your clients
Our 24/7 emergency and specialty hospital in Glasgow was opened in 2009 and has since established itself as the leader in its field.
Our out-of-hours team is here to provide an emergency service at nights, weekends and bank holidays and also to ensure continuity of care for any inpatients that have been seen by our referral team.
Our focus is to offer your practice access to our team as an extension of your own practice. We are here to support your team.
We take stable referrals and also see emergency and critical care cases. You can refer cases such as cruciate ligament surgery, urinary incontinence or hip dysplasia. Alternatively, if you have a daytime emergency such as an RTA or a patient requiring critical care for excessive vomiting and diarrhoea, we’re on hand to take an emergency referral.
Your practice does not have to use our out-of-hours service to access our referral service. We welcome referrals from all veterinary practices, and we understand that often your clients will be happier to travel further for a referral appointment than they would in an emergency. Likewise, if you are only interested in using our out-of-hours service, you can also access this without referring additional cases.

We appreciate just how difficult and stressful it can be to care for critical patients during the day. We understand that many of these patients require constant monitoring, advanced diagnostic testing, multiple tube/drains, as well as being a large time commitment.
Our 24/7 emergency and specialty hospital in Manchester aims to provide your patient with the best possible intensive care and monitoring, and we will keep your client informed of progress and ensure all options are discussed.
Generally, our orthopaedics department will schedule clients for an initial 30 minute consultation with our orthopaedic referral clinician. During this time they will fully examine the patient and discuss with the pet owner any concerns they may have and any treatment or diagnosis from the referring practice. Following the consultation, a diagnosis and treatment plan will be discussed with the client, including the potential costs and outcomes.
If you refer a patient to our internal medicine department, your client will have an initial consultation with one of our clinicians. Following this, a diagnosis and treatment plan will be discussed, including the potential costs and outcomes. Assuming this is agreed, the client will be asked to leave their pet in our care, and further diagnostic tests will take place. Where possible, we will try to ensure the patient can return home on the same day. However, we do have round-the-clock hospital facilities should they need it. The medicine team work closely with their colleagues in soft tissue surgery and oncology to provide a complete service.
Our diagnostic imaging service offers digital radiography, diagnostic ultrasound, computed tomography, fluoroscopy and endoscopy to support our referral colleagues across the hospital in medicine, soft tissue surgery, oncology, neurology, orthopaedics and ECC.
Our oncology service integrates treatment from colleagues in surgery, internal medicine and emergency and critical care to provide state-of-the-art care when a diagnosis of neoplasia is made. We work with you as the primary clinician to tailor a plan to meet each patient’s requirements. We can help with all medical oncological needs including diagnosis and treatment of haemotologic and solid neoplasias, conventional chemotherapy administration, tyrosine kinase inhibitor therapy, and palliative care.
Our soft tissue surgeons perform consultations and operations on tissue and muscles. Clients will have an initial 30 minute consultation with one of the veterinary surgeons. During this time they will fully examine the patient and discuss any concerns they may have. Following the consultation, a diagnosis and a treatment plan will be discussed with referring practices and clients.
Proper nutrition is vital for the health and recovery of dogs and cats and Vets Now is delighted to offer an online nutrition advice service to all referral veterinary surgeons from our Glasgow hospitals. Generally, this veterinary referral service is provided via email to veterinary surgeons, without requiring that the owner visit the referral hospital, and recommendations and advice can be provided directly to yourself to pass on to your client
