Greater Manchester's 24/7 emergency and specialty referral hospital

Our out-of-hours team is here to provide an emergency service at nights, weekends and bank holidays and also to ensure continuity of care for any inpatients that have been seen by our referral team.

Our focus is to offer your practice access to our team as an extension of your own practice. We are here to support your team.

We take stable referrals and also see emergency and critical care cases. You can refer cases such as cruciate ligament surgery, urinary incontinence or hip dysplasia. Alternatively, if you have a daytime emergency such as an RTA or a patient requiring critical care for excessive vomiting and diarrhoea, we’re on hand to take an emergency referral.

Your practice does not have to use our out-of-hours service to access our referral service. We welcome referrals from all veterinary practices, and we understand that often your clients will be happier to travel further for a referral appointment than they would in an emergency. Likewise, if you are only interested in using our out-of-hours service, you can also access this without referring additional cases.

Our specialties

Use the directory below to learn more about the departments and specialists we have at Vets Now Manchester Hospital.

ECC

In the UK, specialty referral options remain limited for critically ill patients, particularly at weekends. We also appreciate just how difficult and stressful it can be to care for critical patients during the day. We understand that many of these patients require constant monitoring, advanced diagnostic testing, multiple tube/drains, as well as being a large time commitment.
Our 24/7 emergency and specialty hospital in Manchester aims to provide your patient with the best possible intensive care and monitoring, and we will keep your client informed of progress and ensure all options are discussed.
We offer round-the-clock nursing and veterinary care for critical pets, such as those with traumatic injuries, cardiac arrhythmias, respiratory distress, coagulopathies, gastrointestinal diseases, toxin ingestion, sepsis and SIRS.

If all is agreed the patients will be taken into our hospital for around the clock care and any required procedures.

The service has access to the latest equipment including flexible endoscopy (for all endoscopic procedures including cystoscopy), fluoroscopy (for high detail swallow studies), balloon dilation (for the treatment of oesophageal strictures), and minimally invasive sinonasal aspergillosis treatment plans.
The medicine team work closely with their colleagues in soft tissue surgery, ECC and diagnostic imaging to provide a complete service no matter what the presenting problem.
