Introducing ECC Bitesize Live, our multi-topic programme of flexible and inclusive ECC CPD with streams for both vets and nurses. Each stream comprises six one-hour interactive sessions, which will take place live online and be available on-demand to watch at your leisure.
Delivered by ECC experts, the sessions will help you further your ECC skillsets and knowledge, no matter your level of experience or whether you work in first opinion, OOH or in a hospital setting. The programme will run from May to October with sessions alternating between a vet and vet nurse focus.
With 12 hours of CPD available, it’s £72 for the six-hour vet stream (working out at £12 per session) and £60 for the six-hour vet nurse stream. You can also attend both for £110 (which equals £9.16 per session).

Neus graduated from The Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona in 2009, and then completed a rotating internship at the university before working in a referral hospital for a year in Barcelona. On moving to the UK, Neus then worked in first opinion practice in Liverpool for two years before beginning an Emergency and Critical Care internship at the Vets Now 24/7 Emergency and Specialty Hospital, Glasgow. In January 2017, Neus began her residency in emergency and critical care with the ECC team in Glasgow. Neus completed her residency in January 2020 and passed her board exams becoming a European Diplomate of Emergency and Critical Care in September 2020.
Racheal is an experienced ECC nurse. She qualified as a veterinary nurse in 2003 whilst working in a busy general practice where she remained for the next 3 years as Senior Nurse. After a short period working as a Lecturer in Veterinary Nursing & Animal Management she returned to nursing as an Emergency & Critical Care nurse working for Vets Now in 2008. Racheal achieved the Veterinary Nursing Certificate in Emergency and Critical Care in 2011 and is a certified RECOVER instructor, she took up her current position as Head of Clinical Nursing at Vets Now in 2014.
Serena graduated from The University of Naples “Federico II” in 2014, and then worked for one year in general practice in her home town. After completing a one-year internship in a referral hospital in Novara (Italy), she spent an additional year there with the emergency and critical care team. While working in Novara she spent several weeks in Birkenfeld (Germany) as consultant for
a private practice.
She moved to the UK in 2017 where she worked at The Veterinary Referral Centre, Godstone, Surrey. In June 2018 Serena joined the ECC team at the Vets Now 24/7 Emergency and Specialty Hospital, Glasgow.
Outside work she enjoys spoiling her two cats Chicca and Artù.
Helen qualified as a veterinary nurse in 1996 after completing her training at the practice where she had volunteered whilst at school. Helen has spent most of her career between two roles; working at Rutland House Referrals first as a soft tissue nurse and later as the Senior Ward Manager and as a Senior Veterinary Nursing Lecturer at Myerscough College, lecturing in hospitalised patient care, medicine, and ECC.
Helen’s passion is in-patient care whether they are surgical, medical or critical patients. She is particularly interested in transfusion medicine, pain management, and nutrition.
Helen leads a team of over 15 nurses and Animal Care Assistants, ensuring that the hospital is resourced properly. She oversees the day-to-day running of the clinical floor between the multiple disciplines as well as staff training and support. Helen is also part of the hospital management team.
After graduating from The University of Veterinary Medicine Hanover, Foundation, Tobias spent three years in a mixed animal practice and a small animal clinic in Germany before starting as an emergency vet in central London. He joined Vets Now in 2003, working as a Senior Vet in Stoke-on-Trent, Edinburgh and Glasgow.
Tobias completed a Vets Now Residency in Emergency and Critical Care at The University of Glasgow and became board certified as a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care in 2013 in San Diego. Tobias then achieved Diplomate status within The European College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care in 2014.
Tobias has lectured worldwide at different veterinary meetings, including the largest International Emergency Symposium (IVECCS, USA) and the largest European Veterinary Congress (BSAVA, UK). He has published various veterinary articles in English and German and is chairman of the British Association of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care (BAVECC).
He was previously nominated for the “Pet Plan Vet of the year” and won the “Vets Now Referral Clinician of the year” award in 2013. He is currently a proud member of the ECC referral service consisting of two ECC specialists, two residents, one intern and three nurses in the Vets Now 24/7 Emergency and Specialty Hospital, Glasgow.
Calum qualified as an RVN in 2015 after taking the advanced apprenticeship route and undertaking his apprenticeship at the Mayhew Animal Home in North West London and studying at the College of Animal Welfare. Calum joined Vets Now in August 2015 on the Nursing Edge programme and started working in the Ilford clinic where he remained for 2.5 years before moving to the Staines clinic where he has been since, Calum has worked as a Principal Nurse Manager since February 2016. During his time at Vets Now he has had several great study opportunities including an ultrasound course, study of advance anaesthesia and critical patient care in the USA, most recently becoming a RECOVER certified instructor in 2021. He am currently in the process of submitting for his Vet Tech Speciality in Emergency and Critical Care (VTS ECC) with the The Academy of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Technicians and Nurses.
David graduated with honours from the University of Glasgow in 2007 and started working in a small animal general practice in Scotland. Following this, he worked for six years at a small animal
hospital in Manchester, where he gained experience in emergency and critical care.
David achieved theRCVS Certificate in emergency and critical care in 2015 and is a registered RCVS Advanced Practitioner in this
field.
David joined Vets Now in November 2016 to further his interest in all aspects of emergency and critical care.
Steve qualified in 2010 where he worked in Glasgow University Small Animal Hospital as a referral nurse. In 2015 he obtained his Advanced diploma in Veterinary Nursing and worked as a Specialist Anaesthesia Nurse. Since 2017 he has been with Vets Now Referrals working as a Referral Surgical nurse, developing his skills in anaesthesia along with his keen interest in local regional anaesthesia and a multimodal approach to peri-operative analgesia.
Adam has obtained experience globally as both a zookeeper and veterinary nurse. He is now able to combine both careers within his role as exotics head veterinary nurse. He has developed a particular interest within anaesthesia, and this is especially true for his passion in zoological and wildlife species.
After graduating from University of Glasgow in 2013 Emma completed a rotating internship, where her interest in Emergency and Critical Care developed. Emma went on to complete an ECC Internship at the Vets Now hospital in Glasgow, followed by a three-year residency in Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care. After finishing her residency, Emma worked as an ECC Clinician in Manchester for two years before returning to the Vets Now Glasgow Hospital where she is currently based.
Qualified in 2010 from Edinburgh Napier University. I found a passion for ECC after working OOH for two years at Vets Now Glasgow, and working in ICU at SASH in Sydney, Australia. I gained my ECC certificate in March 2016 and I started working as an ECC nurse in Vets Now Glasgow in October 2016 and became Senior ECC Nurse in October 2019. I adopted a pug called Frank in August 2020 who has been keeping me very entertained during covid times.
