Vet Surgeon – Cutting Edge Programme

Cutting Edge – your first step into Emergency and Critical Care

Vets Now Stoke is seeking a passionate and dedicated Vet Surgeon who has at least six months small animal experience. Working on average 40 hours per week your rota pattern will consist of a share of weekends and bank holidays, some weekday night shifts as well as weekday backshifts with a second Vet. You will receive support and mentoring from our Clinical Lead and Senior Vet – perfect for learning and development. We will also expand your skills and confidence via our Cutting Edge training programme.

300 hours of free CPD designed and delivered by veterinary experts

Designed by ECC diplomate Amanda Boag, Cutting Edge is the perfect gateway to a career in emergency and critical care. The ten week training combines lectures and interactive seminars with practical training and surgery which is complimented with mentored work in our clinics. The next intake of Cutting Edge is 2nd March 2020. Topics include but not limited to;

  • Abdominal Surgery
  • Blood Smears
  • Emergency Diagnostics
  • Neurological Emergencies
  • Orthopaedic & Spinal Emergencies
  • Practical Ultrasound
  • Suturing Skills
  • Shock and Fluids
  • Toxicology
  • Wound Management

Develop your skills and confidence though enhanced training

The first three weeks of the programme are based in our support office in Scotland. The next four weeks will be spent in a clinic alongside an experienced emergency clinician.. You will come back to the Support Office for the remaining three weeks before graduating from the programme and returning to your clinic.

Earn while you learn

We’ll cover your accommodation costs whilst you’re in the support office and you’ll be paid a basic salary while training – you’ll be a Vets Now employee from day one of the course. For the ten week programme, we’ll pay a basic salary of £40,000 per annum. From week 11, your salary will increase to up to £50,000.
