The BSAVA Postgraduate Certificate in Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care is a discipline based postgraduate qualification designed primarily for veterinary surgeons working in small animal practice with a particular interest in small animal emergency and critical care.

The course combines face-to-face delivery, online learning and a workplace based project and is flexible to enable part-time study by individuals working within small animal veterinary practices.

The aim is to provide participants with the knowledge and expertise they need to deal with the conditions that go hand in hand with emergency or critical care. Furthermore, participants will enhance their understanding of more complex techniques and new advances so that they are able to discuss treatment options and potential outcomes fully with clients, and to refer appropriately.

The BSAVA Postgraduate Certificate in Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care will denote a confident and competent veterinary surgeon who is able to provide a consistently high standard of veterinary care in this field.

The BSAVA Postgraduate Certificates are validated by Nottingham Trent University. As a validated centre, BSAVA is approved to offer one or more specified awards. The University retains responsibility for the approval of modifications to existing courses and introduction of new courses, and provides substantial input into the quality assurance processes underpinning the courses of study offered.

Students studying and successfully passing a BSAVA Postgraduate Certificate will be awarded a Nottingham Trent University certificate.
