How we work
With 53 clinics and two hospitals covering the UK, we provide out of hours cover and referral services to more small animal practices than anyone else in Britain.
In most areas we work with a group of regular member practices, offering our service out of one of their surgeries when it's closed for normal business. When you finish for the night, the weekend or a public holiday, we go on duty. You simply put our details on the answering message at your surgery so that when your patients' owners call you 'out of hours', they're referred straight to us.
Our professionals are trained and qualified just like other vets and veterinary nurses, and they benefit from additional training and direct experience in emergency and critical care. Based in your local area, they will aim to get to know you and your practice with the goal of offering a near seamless experience for your patients and their owners. At the same time, they have all the backing of one of the UK's biggest veterinary networks, including access to a team of specialists round the clock.
We also provide a dedicated, centralised telephone triage centre service that allows concerned pet owners to receive reassurance over the phone when their vet is closed and if appropriate, arrange an appointment to visit their nearest Vets Now clinic.
Centralising our booking and escalation process has also freed up our vets and nurses in the emergency clinics to focus on the pets in their care.
