Helen qualified as a veterinary nurse in 1996 after completing her training at the practice where she had volunteered whilst at school. Helen has spent most of her career between two roles; working at Rutland House Referrals as a soft tissue nurse and later as the Senior Ward Manager. She was also a Senior Veterinary Nursing Lecturer at Myerscough College, lecturing in hospitalised patient care, medicine, and ECC.
Helen’s passion is in-patient care whether they are surgical, medical or critical patients. She is particularly interested in transfusion medicine, pain management and nutrition.
Helen leads a team of over 15 nurses and Animal Care Assistants, ensuring that the hospital is resourced properly. She oversees the day-to-day running of the clinical floor between the multiple disciplines as well as staff training and support. Helen is also part of the hospital management team.
