Dr Tariq Abou-Zahr

Tariq began his career in a private small animal practice in Newport, Wales. He moved to Great Western Exotics in February 2015, where he began a one-year internship in zoological medicine. In May 2016, he was offered the opportunity to stay on and become a European College of Zoological Medicine (ECZM) resident, under the supervision of Neil Forbes.

Tariq has always aspired to become a specialist in the field of zoological medicine and while interested in all aspects of exotic, zoological and wildlife medicine, he has a particular interest in avian and reptilian species.

A lifelong exotic animal enthusiast, Tariq has kept birds since the age of seven and reptiles since the age of 11. His current breeding projects focus predominantly on rare boa and python species. He has been contributing articles to hobbyist magazines such as Practical Reptile Keeping and Parrots Magazine since 2009.
