Following graduation in 1995 from Cambridge, Dan worked in mixed practice for 4 1/2 years, where he gained the RCVS Certificate in Veterinary Anaesthesia. In 2000, he moved to a large hospital-based emergency clinic in Manchester, where he remained for eight years.
In 2008, Dan embarked upon a residency at the RVC, obtaining his American Diploma in Emergency & Critical Care in 2011 and his European Diploma in Emergency & Critical Care in 2015. Since finishing his Residency, Dan was in charge of the ICU at Bristol Vet School before joining Vets Now Referrals at Glasgow in January 2015, where he contributes to the 24-hour Emergency & Critical Care referral service. He is also Vets Now’s National Clinical ECC Lead, with responsibility for the ECC referral services at all Vets Now hospitals. He is a member of the Exam Committee for both the American & European Colleges of Emergency & Critical Care.
Clinically, Dan is interested in all aspects of ECC, but especially in sepsis, fluid therapy and critically ill cats.
When not at work, Dan has a young family and spends as much of his spare time as he can outside (with them!). Dan is keen at growing his own fruit and vegetables but has been singularly unsuccessful at getting tomatoes to ripen outside in northern England.
