Last Sunday I enlisted the help of one of your vets with my Labrador Holly after she had suddenly been unable to walk any further while on a walk in the local wood. I cannot praise too highly the assistance that I received on that day from all concerned. The team didn't waste a second after we arrived and he had already detected a pyometra within a few minutes by scanning. The operation itself proved to be more complicated than he had anticipated as pus was already in the Fallopian tubes and abdomen, and he duly warned me that after the operation the prognosis was not that great. We had also read on the internet that whatever the vet does may not be enough to save the dog in this case.
It has therefore been with the greatest joy that I have watched Holly improving daily. In fact, I would almost say that she has regained all the vim and vigour of her youth. There is also something that mystifies me about all this - ever since she was a pup, her beauty has been slightly marred by the fact that she had very red eyes which are in fact the only means of distinguishing her from her daughter. Now since the op, these eyes have become clear and I am constantly muddling the two dogs up! I am intrigued by this.
But the main reason for writing was to ask you to pass on my sincere thanks to the vet for undoubtedly saving her life. The cut is healing beautifully and she has just received the all clear from the vet. Every time I look at her, I realise just how lucky we were to have had the vet there when we did. It could all have been so very different.
