Richard DixonRichard Dixon
Founder, Vets Now Group

Qualifying as a vet in 1993 from Glasgow University, Richard worked in general practice before returning to Glasgow where he focused in internal medicine and gained his RCVS Certificate in Veterinary Radiology. In 2000 he was awarded his PhD for studies into the epidemiology, diagnosis, management and monitoring canine hypothyroidism. Having developed his particular interests in clinical biochemistry and endocrinology, he subsequently left Glasgow in 2000 to work as a clinical pathologist specialising in endocrinology for a veterinary diagnostic laboratory in Devon. He subsequently returned to Scotland where he still lives, having founded Vets Now in 2001.

Glen GribbonGlen Gribbon
Managing Director, Clinical Services

Glen joined the company in September 2008 as Managing Director for Vets Now Emergency. Named as Marketer of the Year 2008 in the Marketing Excellence Awards Scotland, Glen joined the company from CharteredBrands, the Edinburgh based brands management company where he was MD. Glen joined the company with a solid business background having worked in senior UK and international sales and marketing roles across a wide range of blue chip businesses including BP Oil, Mars Confectionery, Colgate Palmolive and Jim Beam Brands. As Brands Commercial Director he was part of the management team that acquired the Whyte and Mackay spirits business from Jim Beam Brands in 2001, a deal that was Scotland’s largest ever management buy out. Prior to joining Vets Now, Glen was Managing Director of brand turnaround business, Charteredbrands. Under his management, the business had a number of noteable successes including developing the Pomegreat juice brand in to one of the most successful UK soft drinks launches of the past 10 years.

Amanda BoagAmanda Boag
Vets Now Clinical Director

Amanda took up the newly created position of Clinical Director in September 2008. Amanda graduated from the University of Cambridge in 1998 and undertook further clinical training at the Royal Veterinary College and the University of Pennsylvania, achieving board certification in Internal Medicine in 2003 and Emergency and Critical Care in 2005. Prior to taking up her position at Vets Now, she was a Lecturer in Emergency and Critical Care at the Royal Veterinary College from 2003 – 2008 where she was also Head of the Intensive Care Unit, Co-Director of the Blood Transfusion Service and Co-Director of the Internship programme. Amanda has taught many veterinary undergraduates, interns and residents as well as lecturing widely on topics related to Emergency and Critical Care both in the UK and abroad. She has several clinical research interests especially in the fields of hospital acquired infection, Angiostrongylus vasorum infection and electrolytes and fluid therapy and has published papers in the scientific literature on these and other topics. She has also co-authored several textbook chapters and is co-Editor of the second edition of the BSAVA Manual of Emergency and Critical Care. She is a member of the ACVECC exam committee and the EVECCS General Board.

Fiona DewarFiona Dewar
HR Director

Fiona joined Vets Now as HR Director in May 2006. A member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, her HR career has spanned a 20 year period during which she has worked with companies like Boots the Chemists, Marks and Spencer, Motorola and Agilent Technologies. People are at the heart of Vets Now and Fiona is responsible for ensuring the very special culture that exists within the organisation is protected and maintained as it grows and continuing to make Vets Now ‘a great place to work’.


Steve SodenSteve Soden
New Business Director

For 30 years Steve developed his career in marketing, sales, and strategic development. He has experience in a wide range of consumer and business sectors in markets around the world. In addition to managing operations he has also been responsible for market strategy, portfolio analysis, channel development and product development (from concept through to international launch plans).

Stephen had two successful spells with multinational blue chip companies – Schering Plough and Polaroid – at a level where he was able to make a significant difference to their culture and fortunes. Latterly he has worked extensively with SME’s both in advisory and executive roles.

 

 

 

Bob Brannan

Bob Brannan is a widely experienced Chairman and former Chief Executive with a track record of growing the value of companies in the consumer sector having   held leadership roles at Whyte & Mackay, William Grant Distillers and Ben Sherman, among others. He has extensive international experience and specialises in brand building and in mergers and acquisitions. He joined the Board of Vets Now in 2010.
