Skye - Bristol

On Thursday 12th April 2007, Skye an 18 month old Whippet was out for a walk in her local woods with owner Catherine Cotter.  As usual Skye rushed ahead to explore, however when Catherine heard a sudden yelp from Skye she knew something was wrong and dashed to Skye's rescue.

When Catherine reached Skye she was shocked to find that Skye had been impaled on a large branch that was now protruding from her abdomen.  Immediately realising the seriousness of the incident Catherine rushed Skye to her local Vets Now clinic in Bristol.

Upon arrival Skye was clearly in distress and was given pain relief to help make her more comfortable.  She was then taken to surgery and anesthetised to have the branch removed.  At this point it became apparent just how lucky she had been as the branch was impaled around 8 inches into her abdomen yet had fortunately missed all vital organs.

Following her surgery Skye has now made a full recovery, however is understandably a bit less enthusiastic about exploring her local woods!
