Baby Girl - Bristol
Vets Now Bristol recently admitted a severely injured cat who had been the victim of a cruel crossbow attack.
Owner, Mr Gary Dix from Bristol, was horrified when Baby Girl, his 9 year old Tabby jumped through the cat flap one Friday night with a cross bow in her foot. Mr Dix rushed Baby Girl to his local Vets Now clinic who were able to perform emergency treatment to remove the cross bow bolt from her foot and treat her wound.
Commenting about this particular case, Penny Courtney, Senior Veterinary Surgeon at Vets Now Bristol said; "We see a variety of emergency cases coming into the clinic each night, with many pets in a lot of distress; however, cases such as this, where there has been a great deal of cruelty inflicted on a tiny defenceless animal, are always upsetting. Luckily for Baby Girl, the cross bow had gone in between her toes and there was no tendon damage. We removed the cross bow under general anaesthetic and I'm delighted to say that Baby Girl was well enough to be discharged the next day with a course of antibiotics".
Baby Girl's owner, Mr Dix said "I'm extremely grateful to the Vets Now Bristol team for treating Baby Girl so expertly and so quickly. It was fortunate that Vets Now was so close by that I was able to take Baby Girl down to the clinic immediately to receive pain relief and treatment after this terrible and mindless attack. I can't thank the team enough for their professional and calm approach in a situation which was distressing for both Baby Girl and myself."
The attack was reported to both the RSPCA and the police in the Bristol area where similar attacks have also been reported.
